Supporting independence, moving towards employment

Darren's goal of securing full time employment is boosted by obtaining independent accommodation with help from the Making Progress Team.

Darren is a 32-year-old male on probation in Coventry. When Darren first met the Making Progress Team he had recently been released from prison having served a long sentence and had moved in with his parents. He was sharing a bedroom with his brother.

Darren admitted he was desperate to move on with his life. His long-term goals were to secure full time employment, and to secure independent accommodation.

Making progress towards a better future

Clive's Handyperson ambitions come true through with the help of the Making Progress Team.

Clive first came to the Making Progress (formerly Probation Employment) Team in December 2008. He was very motivated to find work from day one.

He had served a two year prison sentence, in an open prison. During the last eight months of his sentence he was allowed to work as a Handy person in a residential care home near the prison. This was a huge boost for him and gave him the confidence to start looking for work immediately upon his release.

Transferring skills to keep you in employment

Being made redundant in the midst of a recession forced Michael Adams to rethink his future. Getting in touch with Enterprising Coventry helped him to use old skills to find a new job.

After being unemployed for more than seven months, former software engineer Michael Adams from Keresly soon became disillusioned with the prospect of finding a new job.

It was during this time that the 41-year-old was put in touch with enterprising Coventry to seek support to help get him back into work.
